How can I stop those bloody Mindvalley ads ? 😀
This was waaaoooowwww
Resentment. Motivation to destroy not create. Desire to hurt not heal. Desire to deceive and not be honest. Raising his fist to the air, fuelling 21st century jokers, destroying my country
Claim: Language creates reality.
Weakness: Derrida claims that language creates reality, but then contradicts it by also claiming that power exists.
Also claims that there is no objective truth.
One of the founders of postmodernism.
Anyone listened to the Chats?
I think Derrida Youtube is the philosophical frontline. If I'm not getting downvotes, i'm winning the debate. PS why don't kids use the same accent as me!!?
I mean can't we all just speak in the same language and disagree on our ideas? No? Ok, well i love you anyway…
It would have been nice if Derrida also favoured sense over gobbledygook.
I will try to re: member him. Re:member. Memor/eyes. For, get.
My kind of philosopher is Jesse Lee Peterson why don’t you guys do a video on him
this is Alain de Botton being a sub-standard philosopher again – there's a reason why he has no academic post, why his glib books are trashed or ignored by serious scholars and yet the old fraudster presumes to 'summarise' some of the toughest thinkers of the postwar period, thinkers like Derrida and Foucault so far out of his league you get videos like this
this is the most useless, philosophically lightweight 'summary' of Derrida's thought I've seen online – the author either hasn't bothered (or is incapable) of reading him properly. This is why the 'School of Life' isn't a proper school at all.
Sam Harris and Jordan Peterson dropped a bunch of names in their conversation on the Waking Up podcast. Because I went looking for these names, I am in a rabbit hole….
Everything bit of this video is worth listening to. I am lucky to be seeing this.
“We do not condemn it because it is a crime, but it is a crime because we condemn it.”
— Emile Durkheim
8:00 Actually IQ is directly related to success in business, this is important!
So I cann say he would agree, his opinions were both bad and good, stupid and clever.
i love your voice!!
He had a severe case of Stockholm Syndrome!
btw Equility is always bettern than inequality, untill they are in balance. balance can only be achieved when all parts involved for the balance are in place.involving/including faith, science, and purpose of humanity.
hmmm…anyone can awner my question? i am seeking awsners to our current human condition and wanne enhance humanity out of our current condition, and launch us into our next human evolution…. the problem i am having is(verry weird) almost all these philosophies(been watching many aristoteles, socrates etc etc lately)
is that i allready came up myself with all there philosophies, some months ago without knowing they allready existed (funny enough thinking i made huge progress) to now fiend some allready existing for 1000's of years… the question is…. what is our core human/humanity problem then? to enhance us forward? when all of these philosophies are allready known and made…what are the main philosophical questions we need to solve? to evolve us human beings? and we dont have awnsers to?
I like Derrida's work. His greatest insight, developed from Nietzsche, Heidegger and Saussure, is left out of this video. Language comes before the various meanings that language is employed to communicate. This is the essence of Derrida's thought.
All this praise of doubts since the 60 rendered the Western World in the hands of its enemies 60 years later. It's a giant bs finance by the Chinese in France always seem as a weak cell inside the English-dominated Western World.
Now do, “Jordan Peterson DESTROYS Derrida”.
The history of philosophy is fascinating. However, what this guy says about the place of that history and whether or not we should be 'fans' of philosophers is also worth listening to, I'd say: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-aOhcCI5QFE
I had heard his name but never realized how important his philosophy is
Derrida is great, now I don't have to feel so guilty that I watch as much football and porn as philosophy. 😎
Is there a creditable source for any of this?
Amazing video!. I have a question. In minute 5:17 they say Derrida deconstructed the idea of equality. Could you be so kind as to tell me the book, article or source where he says this? Thanks in advance.
Crazy pseudointellectual…
…well Derrida did what he did, and we work deconstruction the way it suits us!
Derrida was a confused child. He was born confused, he lived confused and he died confused.
great video, well put. Thanks!
I think i have particular issues with deconstruction as an idea or tenet. broadly otherwise agree with his view that aporia is a state to be reached in understanding of the world. Not convinced its the end goal.
Deconstruction i think really fails to hold up any merit as a methodology. Because if you apply it to one set of concepts, and all you get out is more conepts. The results are just as deserving of scrutiny as the initial.
The closest parallel is that of differentiation in maths. What derridas logic would entail is an endless set of differentials because unlike maths there is no agreeable fundamental building block of knowledge in the epistemological field.
This is inherently a nihlisitic as it does truely mandate the destruction of all concepts.
It doesn't mean the methodology is wrong.
It means when he says you should pull apart the concept of love and passion and look at the results and expect wisdom in the resulting outcome, most people rightly go well thats nigh useless.
Why is it useless? It basically engenders paralysis. As there is no justifiable undecontructable motives in the world. You can no longer act in a way that doesn't fall apart.
haha…. yea, he suffered (sadly) and brought hell to all of us. Yes, we need hiearchy and logic in order to… build a bridge, row a boat and realize any other tangible outcome in the real world.
hmm
He came up with postmodernism to get laid 🤷♂️
Why is Chomsky pictured in the opening sequence — with no explaination?
thank you. Its football not soccer
For a critic of Logocentrism, you definitely nailed Derrida's ideas. I think one of the biggest injustices Postmodernism did, was convince everyone that we couldn't communicate with one another. Derrida aside, where Postmodernism went after him was a matter of absurdity. Believing art is experienced subjectively, or what have you. That's just not true. One thing you can learn from Derrida's deconstruction—which is something I've spent volumes trying to communicate—is the ability to understand different ways of thinking precisely. It's something the Postmodernists don't do. There's definitely objective answers, and art does communicate experiences well. It might be tampered down a bit, but nobody wants to be traumatized by their art.
Anyway, good video.
Isn't this guy Jordan Peterson's archnemesis?
I call him Jacqass derreda , you know why.
I’m always cautious about bullied philosophers
@The_School_of_Life – is there like a bibliography/sources somewhere related to this and your other videos? I'm just curious as to what is used as source materials for these interpretations and introductions.
