Dell’s new high-end desktop comes with the latest generation of Intel CPUs, but Dell doesn’t quite have the value here to make this a recommendable computer.

Thinking about buying this in 2020 and upgrading the HDD,RAM and Video card.
just bought one and a 24 inch asus monitor for 150 cnd. its still a good computer in 2020… not great but 150? the monitor is like 200+ still. plays tomb raider at high/mid settings. and dolphin ngc like perfect
I have this pc in 2019, what can i upgrade to make it a gaming pc for csgo, apex legends etc..
Mine is still going but hangs often
Had this as my starting pc and it did pretty well until the amd 7870 finally keeled over. I replaced it with a 980 and it did even better. But i finally decided to upgrade entirely by building my own and leaving this as a secondary for anyone that wants to game with me at my place. Its great for a person looking for a quick easy gaming pc. Just swap out the video card and itll be able to handle todays games moderately well.
Mines died
Does anyone know what the mother board in this is because he wants to upgrade graphics cards but I can't find anything about the motherboard model or type even the Dell website tells me nothing about it.
I have a question i fot it, i think in 2012 or 2011 mine has a i7 3370 i think 14 gb of r and idk if it is or not but a gtx 660
i have this and other ppl say only 1t its 3terabyte ur right
I had this computer since 2012 and i don't know why but since the end of summer of 2013 it started to freeze and made a buzzing sound, sometimes without it too does anyone know whats going on?
i have gt 620 right now on my xps 8500, will i be able to fit a gtx 760. PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!
I can play battlefield 4 on medium without an issue.
you have this pc with 760? i bought it last year, and just bought the 760 but i'm concerned about the 460w psu's if it can handle it…
I would if I had the money XD, its really not that funny having a AIO 5 year old PC, that you can't even OC.
That's where I got mine about a year ago. I have no complaints about it whatever. I hooked up a nice ASUS 21" HiDef flat-screen monitor, HDMI, and it looks outstanding and works perfectly. Skyrim with a ton of mods runs without he machine breaking a sweat. Get one.
500 is a pretty good deal, spend about $250 on a GTX 760 and youre golden on any games out now, Max settings for sure. At least thats how my setup is and its running like a champ.
How does yours perform for games? I'm about to buy one.
I'm getting a sweet deal on this machine ($500) through my work. I want to make it into a great gaming computer. What are some things I will need to upgrade (power supply being obvious). How is the graphics card? This is a guy who has spent his whole life in console gaming. Its time I step up to the big leagues.
Dude I found one for like 1,300 and It has better specs than this one, from MicroCenter
I bought this computer around christmas time, and I've just recently have been watching reviews about it. But what's odd, is that all the xps 8500's shown, have 3tb harddrive, and and amd graphics card. I have 2 tb , and a nvidia geforce gt 640 .. anyone else have my setup?
I bought mine on Christmas and it is amazing! All I need to do is upgrade my video card to a GTX 660, and it will play most games at max settings with a stable framerate.
Upgrade the video card and you will have an amazing gaming pc
DAMN!!!! I wish I saw this video before I bough the damn computer. It runs great, and the speed itself is great it's just the wifi. The computer does not see the wifi. My laptop has five lines and the desktop has two if I'm lucky three…. should have bough a different one.
I think a lot of people have misunderstood what this guy was trying to do with this review. He's NOT in ANY WAY saying "get a mac." He's trying to promote the excellent yet relatively unknown PC maker Origin PC.
i5 will do well for gaming but the XPS is fully upgradable so over time as technology increases you can improve the XPS but from my experience you cant upgrade a alienware computer easily
get the xps because it is fully up-gradable and come with more ram, faster processer, and will last you longer, Alienware is good but xps is better with my experience.
Should i get a Alienware x51 with an i5 processor 6gb or should i get The Dell XPS 8500 with an i7 processor and 8gb. I need to know which would be better for gaming…
This computer is so much cheaper now and well worth the price. You can get it base model for less than a grand.
Like if you're watching this on your XPS 8500.
What CNET says is absolute garbage. The XPS 8500 that you specified is way better than the Digital Storm Ode v2. The reason I say so, is although the ode v2 PC has an ever-so-slightly better graphics card the processor and ram on XPS 8500 is way better. I recommend the XPS.
He doesn't have to recommend it…I will. The XPS series computers are good systems. Next step up is Alienware. I personally use XPS systems and if I need any more power, just a simple upgrade to the power supply and graphics card. If that's still not enough, just add a SSD.
@BigGhommie ikr thay have got a 24gb ram modell now 😀
