Why doesn’t it let me change the contrast ?
Hi Teoh,
Do you think I will receive at the moment of complete satisfaction in working with this monitor with adobe 2020?
I want to leave from iMac 2017 27 5k, will I get benefits compared to the iMac monitor?
I work with very large photos, about 30,000 wide, and more, it is very important for me to see the smallest details in the photo. Photo for large print in high resolution.
So, you say best is 32 for now or 27 inches, for my experience 27 is the biggest monitor with is I worked for now!
Thank you!
Yi Chie – any plans to put out a review of the UP2720Q?
You recommand DELL UP2716D (27", 2560 x 1440) but for photo retouching…. Better sharper than only 2560×1440….
No?
As we are now 2020….it has been updated for Photoshop and Lightroom?
Or another new monitor to recommand?
All your replies are so informative too. Thank you for being so generous with your time.
Excellent review.
for KVM, how do you switch the input source? Is it a pain or is it easy?
Hi! How Do you compare with the Dell UltraSharp Premier Color UP2716D?
UP2718Q and UP2716D at the same price, what would you buy for color grading or content creating?
Hello, I have a question. If you reply, I would be happy.
I'm a web designer. I need to see the colors realistic and good. Which monitor would you recommend for me?

Hello, Please advise if this model Dell U2718Q is any good? Any red colour bleeding at the corners or heavy back light bleeding? Your honest opinion will help in deciding the way forward. Thanks.

Looking for a professional screen for graphics, printing, video, 3D and more. Decided between Dell and UP2718Q 4K
To the Dell UP2716D. Apart from the difference in resolution, I did not understand where the main difference was, and in which one I should choose for my needs
Nice review! May I ask what is the lowest height with stand?
Hi Teoh, wich is the best way to connect the monitor with the macbook pro 2018? Thanks
Good Morning, I have been looking, reading and watching Youtube or where ever there has been information posted on what monitors to buy for Photo Editing almost a for a year now and I still haven't found any information that helps until I've seen this video, but it's for the DELL UP2718Q. I am a graphic designer and I started doing Photography. I want to get better edits. I have a budget of $600. I stumbled onto your video for this DELL model UP2718, but the model I was looking at was the DELL U2718Q 27" that is how I found this video. I'm looking for someone with an honest opinion on which would be a good choice for editing photos. I have been leaning towards the BenQ SW2700PT 27 inch QHD IPS, which you mentioned in this video vs the Dell Ultrasharp U2718Q 27-Inch 4K IPS. I liked the DELL UP2718Q until I realized it wasn't The DELL U2718Q which is a lot different in price. So for a budget of $600 which would you recommend. Please Help! If you see this.
Thank you so much for the info! This was exactly what I needed to know.
So you would still recommend calibrating, even though DELL says it comes "true to color" out of the box? Im buying this in a couple days, any help would be awesome. I was probably going to buy an x-rite pro calibrator the following week. Just wondering if I could get by a couple photoshoots without it.
thanks for the review!!
i have a doubt, is necesary the 4K resolution for 27inch monitor? or 2560×1440 in 27 inch monitor is fine and sharp (for 3d artist and designers) ???
Very interesting! So it is good for CMYK / Print design work? Can it be connected to top-end Mac mini?
Thanks for the info. I am looking for a monitor and I was considering this one but after watching this I will now look at the model you suggested for content creators.
Hello,
Thank you for this review 🙂
I have a question. If you reply, I would be happy. Does this monitor provide 60 hz on HDMI? Some monitors' HDMI don't provide 60 hz, just 30hz possible.
Thank you in advance.

Hey Dude, So which one would you recommend for a wedding photographer Dell UP2716D or Dell UP2718Q ??? Thanks
Hi, thanks for this very informative review. Have you reviewed U2718Q in comparison to this model. I'm in the market for a monitor and I seen the two dell monitors UP2718Q nd U2718Q. Not sure which one to get.
Congratulations! You made a VERY good review. Thanks a lot; it was very usefull to me.
This is not the Dell UP2718Q. That model also doesn't have a KVM switch. I wish it did because I have the actual monitor. Fix your review.
I was recently in the market for a 4K monitor as I do a little bit of creative manipulation of HDR images in Photoshop. I had been working in Photoshop CC for the past 4 years on a Gateway kx2703 analog VGA monitor trying to nail colors. It wasn't until I got more serious about photography (since I have a passion for it) that I discovered how critical a properly color calibrated monitor is. Just recently I purchased a Dell UP2718Q after doing hours of research on which monitor to buy. Now keep in mind I had a spending budget of over $2000 so any 4K monitor in the $1500 price range was acceptable to me. My two finalists came down to the following:
BenQ SW271 HDR monitor
Dell UP2718Q 4K HDR monitor
When you look the specs below, both monitors are fantastic for color critical work/content creation. Both offer the same 60hz display at 4K resolution, provide roughly the same color gamut, and offer precise color accurary tuning right out of the box from factory. Both monitors also offer excellent color uniformity and have minimal backlight bleed when viewing monitor in complete darkness. For the price you certainly can't go wrong with the BenQ SW271 which is excellent bargain for your dollar. I would strongly recommend it.
**WHY I CHOSE THE DELL UP2718Q over the BENQ SW271:**
My decision to get the UP2718Q was for a few reasons.
#1) Its a TRUE 10-bit display. The BENQ offers 10-bit color through emulation. While this might not be a big concern for those of you watching HDR content or gaming, it is a concern when you work on HDR workflow as I do. As those who work on HDR are aware, banding + halo'ing can be problematic. If you want a smoother color gradient and be able to fine tune your HDR work, then the Dell UP2718Q is a no brainer over the BenQ and warrantes the $400 extra cost.
#2) TRUE HDR, not faux HDR
The BenQ offers HDR content through dithering (via 8-bit + FRC) in order to acheive HDR as best as it can, while the Dell monitor is actually true HDR10 compliant. Even if you don't need HDR, its a futureproof technology. Worth the extra bucks. Obviously, as I enjoy HDR, it was a big benefit to me personally. Yes I'm aware HDR is still in its infancy on Window 10, but thats not to say it won't be a focus in 2018.
#3) Contrast/Brightness advantgaes
Being able to see details in the shadows and highlights allows me to fine tune my photography more. I know its really nit picking, but I didn't buy a Canon 5DSR for nothing.

I dont understand because them make 27"monitors with 4k resolution, isnt 1440p enough for a 27"?
Judging by the size of menu bar and icons you had it set to scale as 1920×1080 equivalent, which makes everything crisp but eats space. 2560 x 1440 seems like a much better resolution for a 27 inch screen since it offers more real estate but would require a 5k panel to achieve "retina" like sharpness.
My question is, do you find the 2560 x 1440 of UP2716D to be too grainy on Mac? Also did you find UP3017 to be grainy, since it's got very low PPI? Coming from a retina Mac I find most screens unusable under MacOS which is now designed for retina displays. Windows on the other hand isn't as bad.
what happens if you downscale to 4k? can you get 120hz?
And the Xbox one X and the PS4 pro are HDR ready. That’s the only reason I’m getting this 4K monitor, is for My Xbox one X and PS4 pro because it has HDR
Would I be able to connect a sound bar via bluetooth?
But it is not a Dell UP2718Q 4K HDR Monitor
Great review! I also need to know if this monitor has the possibility to connect headphones or external speakers, thanks
Nice review. I already own the 2716D, but I am considering upgrading to a Dell 4k monitor with superb color accuracy. I am a graphic designer. Which Dell monitor would you recommend? Which one do you use yourself?
Is this monitor good for PS4 PRO HDR gaming?
I like that video of yourself on the Dell monitor. Were you on a skateboard, by chance? Just kidding! …. The review is great, as always, Teoh!
Might be a bit off topic, but could 160GSM thickness paper, be enough to paint on both sides of the paper or is it too thin?
Many thankz☺
~Codie
Great review, I bought the u2718q model and had (I still have) a bit of trouble setting the colors on MacOS. Green, for example, was very different from the macbook monitor. And I still do not have a color calibrator, so I'm still suffering a little …
Could you please share your ICC profile? 🙂 tks
Excellent review mister ! I Have one question, when you watch hdr content on this monitor did the blacks looks very deep like plasma or oled ? Because the dell contrast specs says 1000:1 (typical), 20,000:1 (HDR) ?
Thank you for you reply !
You're always very thorough.b( ^_^)b Your reviews are very dependable and well worth a watch before buying these products. Thanks Teoh.
